I've been doing a lot of collages this summer and also dabbling in watercolors. This is my favorite that I have done so far. Stay cool.
Into the dark and whimsical...
We made this cardboard relief together as a class. I really liked how it all came together. I was really not diggin' this at all when we started. I really didn't want to work with cardboard and carve and cut and do sizing of the card board pieces. It was just not my cup of tea. However the final result made me happy to go through the process. I'm surprised at the amount of values found in the piece with the card board and happy to see how it has a dreamlike but industrial picture.
With this precision-ism piece we had to go for the more industrial rather then the natural, which I usually don't gravitate to, however the simplicity of a bike wheel enticed me.
With this portrait, there had to be a sense of energy and life. I used hot colors to try and create a self contained chaos, surrounded by an abyss of black. To add a little somethin' I added some green to highlight my hair, this wasn't originally my idea but after seeing how it looked after a while it really grew on me and it created a lot of interest. The image transfer is not perfect, so there is some streaks of white paper left although this is true I feel that it creates a rush effect adding more energy to the piece.
Creating this work was fun, although I think I'm terrible at drawing people it wasn't too bad. Especially when you get to change them with patterns and bold colors. Much more abstract, which is what I like. Duc and Larissa were very good models. Originally Judy was in this picture too, but I unfortunately had to cut her out.
For this assignment, I wanted to make the final product as fun and different as possible.
With this collage I wanted to show a sense of style that was classic with simple dress forms but modern with minimal colors and prints. How I imagine the fashion of the future- classic shapes that work for our bodies but modern in color choice and pattern styles. Also with jewelry that has accents of color for these simple wears.
